Standard First Aid

Standard First Aid covers basic First Aid for all ages.

Course length: 3-4 hours.
*Currently limited to 8 students per class.

There is a final exam to gain certification. A passing grade of 80% or higher is required to pass.  The Certificate is good for 2 years and comes from the Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS).

  • Introduction to injuries and the importance of First Aid
  • Scene Size-up, legal aspects, prevention of disease transmission
  • Injury Emergencies: Bleeding control, wound care, head injuries, amputations, bone fractures, burns…
  • Sudden Illnesses: Asthma, allergic reactions, heart attack, stroke, fainting, diabetic, seizures, shock…
  • Environmental Emergencies: Animal bites, insect bites/stings, heat/cold, poisoning…
  • Emergency Rescues/moves
  • Basic Triage
